Our ARCOSYSTEM® elevated cable troughing was successfully installed in order to power Track Paralleling Huts during a rail project in the south east of England.
Earlier this year, AW Rail Services Ltd were contracted to support ongoing works in the Sussex and Kent regions. This part of the project near Todhurst in west Sussex consisted of re-wiring work to provide lighting and heating to Track Parallelling Huts. Part of this involved fitting new elevated cable management systems to house the cabling required.
ARCOSYSTEM® Size 1 elevated cable troughing was specified. This allowed for minimal work space to be taken up in an area where existing ground troughing was in situ. Manufactured from pultruded glass fibre reinforced polymers (GRP/FRP), ARCOSYSTEM® can span up to 6 metres between support posts and its composite construction allows the lightweight troughing to be adjusted for height and direction with ease during installation. Size 1 can carry up to 45kg of cable per metre, allowing future-proofing to be incorporated into the design.
Another significant advantage was that the flexibility of the system’s accompanying laser-cut steel brackets allowed seamless transition at recess points where the route was lowered to the ground.
