First APM Delivered to Beijing Capital International Airport

On Wednesday, 14 July, the joint venture CRRC Puzhen Bombardier Transportation Systems Ltd (PBTS) – with the Bombardier component now part of Alstom – delivered the first new automated people mover (APM) unit to one of Beijing’s two international airports.

A delivery ceremony took place in the workshop assembly area and the customer toured the factory and accepted the new APM.

Beijing Capital International Airport has some of the highest passenger numbers in the world.

In 2008, Beijing Capital International Airport received its first APM when the city hosted the Olympic Games. In November 2019 the JV and the airport signed the APM trains supply and upgrading contract – for Innovia APM 300 units. Despite COVID-19 challenges work on project design, production and delivery continued and train testing was completed at the start of July, ready for delivery.

PBTS was established in 2014 with a focus on manufacturing monorail and APM vehicles.
