Alstom has put into service the 9th section – the Quseia section – of the Beni Suef-Asyut railway line in Egypt.

Alstom has installed and commissioned its SIL 4 signalling equipment, the Smartlock 400 GP electronic interlocking system. It has also installed a support system and SCADA, which oversees and controls various subsystems based on Alstom Iconis, TLC system and 11kV power supply substation. The Quseia section is 15km in length and connects with Abu-Qurqas, Roda, Mallawi and Deirut stations, which are already in service. This brings the total length of commissioned line to 131km, covering 9 stations, 40 level crossings and 186 sets of points.
