Frauscher Sensor Technology
Your partner for confidence
Frauscher Sensor Technology provides the world’s most reliable field elements for highly available train detection and wayside object controlling, together with a comprehensive portfolio that extends beyond these core areas. Software, connectivity and data transmission solutions, combined with smart life cycle services, put rail network operators in control of their infrastructure – so they can maximise safety, efficiency and capacity. It is this combination that makes Frauscher the trusted foundation operators need to run their rail networks with confidence.
Wheel Sensors
Wheel sensors are Frauscher’s founding product and the technological root of its portfolio; Frauscher is recognised as a pioneer of inductive wheel detection. All Frauscher wheel sensors are mounted using the patented rail claw, eliminating the need for drilling into the rail, and no active electronics sit at the trackside – evaluation and supply components are housed in decentralised cabinets or the interlocking building instead, improving robustness and ease of maintenance in the field. Proven models such as the RSR180 and RSR123 have been used worldwide for more than 30 years across level crossing protection, point protection, flank protection and track vacancy detection. A new wheel sensor generation is extending this reliability to every operating condition, offering a significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio, reliable filtering of partial traversing events and outstanding immunity to electromagnetic interference.
Axle Counters
Frauscher axle counting systems combine reliable wheel sensors with innovative evaluation boards and a wide range of interfaces to deliver highly available, tailored train detection systems. Beyond track vacancy status, they provide direction of travel, axle count, wheel diameter and diagnostic data – a valuable basis for safe and efficient rail operations.
- The Frauscher Advanced Counter FAdC® is a flexible, scalable, SIL 4 solution suited to projects of any size, used together with the Wheel Sensors RSR123 and RSR180 ; features such as Supervisor Track Section STS and Counting Head Control CHC further increase availability without additional hardware.
- The Frauscher Track Vacancy System FTVS offers a cost-effective, Basic Integrity axle counting solution for non-vital, operations-support applications, used with the Wheel Sensor RSR310.
Object Controllers
The Frauscher Advanced Platform FAdP is a modular and scalable SIL 4 hardware and software foundation shared by several object controller types, built for decentralised signalling architectures and cybersecure by design.
Communication across the platform is handled by the connectivity solution Frauscher Connect It manages secure, standard-compliant communication – commands, diagnostics and security services alike – between object controllers and the interlocking, and does so consistently across FAdP Point, FAdP TDS, FAdP IO as well as other products from the Frauscher portfolio.
- FAdP Point delivers point control, detection, and monitoring, offering maximum flexibility and compatibility. It can be combined with a wide range of point machines.
- FAdP IO provides an object controller solution for data transmission, generic IO applications, and seamless migration towards digital signalling architecture. FAdP TDS will combine the proven FAdP platform with the next-generation Wheel Sensor RSR360 Pro and its digital interface, providing operators with a modern, cyber-secure, and digitally connected train detection platform.Across all its forms, FAdP supports EULYNX as well as further interlocking protocols, and is equally suited to greenfield projects and the gradual digitalisation of brownfield installations.
Data Transmission
Frauscher Advanced Data Transmission FAdT is the flexible solution for transmitting digital input and output data between different locations in rail operation, covering applications from SIL 1 to SIL 4. Built around the IO Expansion Board IO-EXB, FAdT connects a wide variety of sensors and switches regardless of manufacturer. It transmits both vital information – such as signal status, point position and occupancy – and non-vital data including power supply status and temperature alarms
Frauscher Insights
Frauscher Insights is the data platform that turns diagnostic information from field elements into actionable intelligence. Frauscher Insights Diagnostics and Frauscher Insights Motion provide real-time status messages, pre-fault monitoring and clearly visualised alerts, supporting operators in shifting from reactive troubleshooting towards a proactive maintenance approach.
Life Cycle Services
Frauscher Life Cycle Services accompany operators and integrators throughout the entire lifetime of their installations – from commissioning and training through to maintenance, consulting and project management – helping to keep system-critical components operational while reducing maintenance effort and cost.
From the wheel sensor at the trackside to platform-based object controllers and cloud-based diagnostics, every element of the Frauscher portfolio is designed to work together – giving operators and integrators the trusted foundation they need to run their rail networks with confidence. Frauscher – your partner for confidence.
