US Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has just announced that Detroits M-1 Rail Project (otherwise known as The Woodward Light Rail Line)  will receive $25 million in Federal Tiger Funding. This 3 mile long light rail system that runs alongside Woodward Avenue will also include 11 stops which will run from the city’s downtown to the New Centre.

$100 Million Already Raised

So far it is estimated that over $100 million has already been raised of the $140 million that is required.  Official sources have said that trains could be running by late 2015.
