Transport for London (TfL) has opened a public consultation on proposals for a new London Overground route connecting Hendon and Hounslow.
The proposed 18.5-kilometre service would use existing rail infrastructure currently used for freight, linking communities across west and northwest London. The consultation runs from 23 September to 18 November 2026.
Plans include up to six trains per hour, with proposed connections serving areas including Brent Cross, Neasden, Harlesden, Old Oak Common, Acton, Brentford and Hounslow. The route would also connect with London Underground, London Overground, National Rail, the Elizabeth line and the planned HS2 station at Old Oak Common.
TfL says the scheme could support around 25,000 homes and 11,500 jobs, alongside up to 1.3 billion GBP in wider economic benefits, subject to funding and approvals. It estimates the route could remove around 650,000 car journeys from London’s roads each year.

We want to ensure that everyone understands the proposals and has the opportunity to share their views. All feedback will be carefully considered as we continue to develop the scheme with our partners.
The consultation follows a funding package of up to 6.65 million GBP agreed by TfL and its partners earlier in 2026. The funding will support further design, modelling and assessment work, with a decision expected in 2027 on whether to seek the powers required to build the scheme.
TfL is developing the proposals with the West London Alliance, several London boroughs, the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation and Network Rail.
Residents, businesses and other stakeholders can respond to the consultation until 18 November 2026.
