Station Infrastructure
Victorian Government
As part of the Metro Tunnel Project in Melbourne, Victoria, major construction is now complete at Anzac Station.
This station is the third of five new stations to be constructed for the Metro Tunnel Project. It will provide a convenient rail connection to the Domain area in central Melbourne.
Anzac Station is located several metres underground below St Kilda Road. It has four entrances with stairs, lifts and escalators connecting to a new pedestrian underpass.
A defining feature of the station is its 85-metre-long, 21-metre-wide timber canopy, which is enhanced by skylights. These skylights allow natural light to flood into the station, reducing the dependence on artificial lighting and creating an open, welcoming atmosphere for travellers.
The stop will be Melbourne’s first direct tram/train interchange, facilitating seamless connections between the services while reducing the pressure on the world’s busiest tram corridor.
Separated bike lanes have also recently been completed along St Kilda Road, from Windsor to Melbourne’s CBD to encourage safe active transport.
