Amtrak has announced that the sixth Cascades Airo trainset will soon arrive for testing in the east on its journey toward the Pacific Northwest.
The train’s departure puts Amtrak just over halfway through its testing period for the new Cascades trainsets.

Shortly, the train will arrive into Pueblo, CO, for a comprehensive test programme, after which it will be cleared to begin its onward journey.
Once Amtrak’s new fleet is fully realised, each trainset will be made up of eight passenger cars and feature standard, Coach and Business class seating, with capacity for roughly 300 passengers per set.
All new units utilise Auxiliary Power Vehicles (APVs) equipped with pantographs, allowing them to draw power from overhead electrified lines as well as diesel-propulsion on non-electrified track segments.
