Alstom will provide 35 additional RER NG trains for the RER E line within the Île-de-France Mobilités network in Paris.
This order, valued at approximately 520 million EUR, is fully financed by Île-de-France Mobilités and follows the framework agreement established in 2017 between SNCF Voyageurs and Alstom.
The order raises the total number of RER NG trains purchased to 166, including 130 for the RER E line and 36 for the RER D line. Alstom has progressively delivered these modern trains since late 2023, with deployment on the RER D line scheduled to commence by the end of 2024.
The RER NG (New Generation) trains are designed to improve passenger capacity, comfort, and reliability across the RER D and RER E lines.
These double-deck trains incorporate features aimed at optimising the passenger experience:
Each six-car trainset for the RER E line measures 112 metres in length, with a maximum capacity of 1,563 passengers, including 501 seats.
The RER NG trains are designed and assembled in Alstom’s facilities in Valenciennes-Petite Forêt and Crespin, with contributions from nine other Alstom sites in France, including La Rochelle, Tarbes, and Villeurbanne. This distributed production approach supports regional employment and industrial expertise.
