SYSTRA has been awarded a Project Management and Construction Management (PMCM) consultancy contract for the extension of Riyadh Metro’s Red Line in Saudi Arabia.
Awarded as part of the Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC) Joint Venture (JV) led by Parsons; the JV will seek to provided management and supervision services covering the overall design, implementation, commissioning and start of operations of the extension on behalf of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC).

The extension of the Red Line is set to establish a new strategic section of the wider Riyadh metro network. Currently, the line runs for 25.3km along an east-west axis from King Saud University to King Fahad Stadium, and serves 16 stations.
Once completed, this new extension will largely be situated underground (85%), and be constructed using twin-tube bored tunnels, whilst the remaining sections will be comprised of viaducts. By the end of construction, an additional eight stations and 5.4km will be added to the line in order to extend its overall reach.
A key objective of the extension is to connect Diriyah to the rest of the Riyadh public transport network, as well as strengthen connectivity for King Saud University, improving access for students, faculty and staff while aiming to ease congestion on surrounding roads.
Alexandre Jonard, Project Director, SYSTRA Arabia, said:This project builds on more than a decade of collaboration in Riyadh and reflects our commitment to delivering smarter, more connected mobility for the city.
By combining experience, innovation and a deep understanding of RCRC’s expectations, we are in an excellent position to support the successful delivery of this important extension.
