12th CZ Loko EffiShunter 300 Delivered to Czech Railways
CZ Loko delivered the twelfth EffiShunter 300 locomotive to Czech Railways at the end of February. This locomotive completes the order. CZ Loko can now look back over a successful contract that began in 2017.
Czech Railways will use the EffiShunter 300 locomotives for shunting jobs at both stations and depots. This new shunting locomotive fleet will replace the Class 714 locomotives produced by ČKD as they are not very reliable. In particular, Czech Railways will use these shunting locomotives for passenger train arrangement and shunting rail vehicles for maintenance.
Jan Kutálek, Sales Director, CZ Loko, said:
“The main benefit for the operator is the high reliability of the new locomotives. The locomotives also save approximately 40 % of operating fluids and their servicing is very inexpensive. The surroundings will appreciate noise reduction and compliance with the strictest EU Stage IIIB emission limits. This is particularly true in densely populated areas and indoor halls, where shunting in passenger transport is often carried out.”
These EffiShunter 300 locomotives (Czech Class 794) will perform shunting duties throughout the Czech Republic, working at large railway junctions. For example, these shunting locomotives will work in Prague, Brno, Olomouc, Hradec Králové, Pilsen, and Ústi nad Labem.
CZ Loko EffiShunter 300 Specifications
The EffiShunter 300 is the smallest representative of this product range for CZ Loko. In particular, it is a two-axle locomotive with a Caterpillar C13 diesel engine. It has a power of 328 kW. The top speed for this locomotive is 60km/h.
Jaroslav Plhák, Business Director, CZ Loko, said:
“The concept of the vehicle was defined as a smaller affordable shunting locomotive with low operating and maintenance costs. This created an attractive alternative to replacing obsolete locomotives even on sidings with less traffic. I think this will help to revive some siding operations and remove some freight transport from the roads.”
Being a compact locomotive, this shunter can also work in metros and on other special railways. For example, in 2018 CZ Loko won a contract with the Warsaw metro specifically for the supply of this shunting locomotive.
