Rail safety specialists, Sheffield-based Zonegreen, will be highlighting the dangers facing staff in maintenance depots at this year’s Railtex exhibition next month.
The firm’s head of engineering, Christian Fletcher, a leading expert in depot protection, will be hosting daily workshops throughout the international event, to discuss good safety practices.
Zonegreen will be based on stand M11 in Hall 3 at Birmingham’s NEC throughout the three-day exhibition, which runs from May 9-11. It will be demonstrating its market-leading Depot Personnel Protection System (DPPS) and examining the importance of implementing technology to deliver a safe working environment.
DPPS provides physical protection to depot staff by automating the control of vehicle movements, removing the margin for human error. The system uses Network Rail-approved powered derailers, operated by RFID road end panels, that allow users to create safe zones in which to work. Both key components will be available to view on the firm’s stand.
“We are undergoing an exciting period of development currently and we look forward to sharing our news with old friends, as well as making new acquaintances at Railtex. The exhibition is a milestone event in the rail industry calendar and with the sector placing increased focus on the importance of depot safety, we expect Christian’s workshops to be very popular with delegates.”
In March, Zonegreen joined Sentric Safety Group, which focuses on creating safer workspaces across a wide range of industries, from energy and manufacturing to industry, logistics and transport. The acquisition will enable the firms to expand their international reach and provide a complete range of connected technologies to keep rail maintenance workers safe.
