An Implenia/Webuild (and swiss subsidiary CSC) joint venture has been awarded Lot H41 of the Brenner Base Tunnel project by BBT SE; the company created for the development of what will be the world’s longest railway tunnel.
At 55 kilometres in length, the Brenner Base Tunnel will link Italy and Austria underneath the Alps and is a key part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
The Lot H41 award, valued at €651 million, (738.91m USD), increases Webuild’s involvement in the Brenner Base Tunnel project, as the construction group is also working on the lsarco River Underpass, the Mules 2-3 Lot and the Tulfes-Pfons Lot.
This is in addition to the railway between Fortezza and Ponte Gardena, south of the tunnel.
The new contract consists of the construction of the railway between the Austrian towns of Gola del Sill and Pfons.
The Lot H41 award also includes traditional excavation of two parallel tunnels (and their auxiliaries) of approximately 7km in length, and excavation of a further 16.5km using two tunnel-boring machines (TBMs) with a diameter of more than 10 metres.
In addition, the contract also covers lining the walls of the completed tunnels, an underground emergency stop at lnnsbruck, access and exploratory tunnels.
Please fill in the contact form opposite. A member of the team will be in touch shortly.
