Île-de-France Mobilités has announced that the new TW20 tram has commenced dynamic tests in preparation for the start of service on the T1 tramway.

The new generation tram will equip line T1 at the end of 2024. This 100% accessible vehicle will gradually replace the old trains on the oldest tramway line in Île-de-France.

The dynamic tests are taking place on the T8 tram line from Épinay-Orgemont to Saint-Denis. Performance and compatibility tests with network infrastructures will then continue this summer.

In September, driver training will begin prior to the start of passenger service.

These new vehicles are supplied by Alstom. As well as being fully accessible, they are equipped with modern features including 20 passenger information screens and 32 USB outlets in each train.

They also increase capacity by 15% compared to the trams currently in operation.
