Alstom has won a service contract to recondition 250 rail cars for Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).
This order is valued at 62.7 million CHF (64.3 million EUR) and also provides an option to cover an additional 85 units.

Under this contract, Alstom will provide the anti-corrosion sanitation of SBB’s IC 2000 trains. This work will be carried out at its site in Villeneuve, which specialises in service.
Marie Icardo, Managing Director of Alstom Switzerland said:Over the past few months in Villeneuve, we have successfully completed the transformation into a service site, and this contract represents a new important step. Once again, we can demonstrate our expertise within the framework of a long-term partnership with the SBB.
With the award of this contract, work on SBB’s long-distance IC 2000 fleet will be completed between 2024 and 2030.
Daniel Novak, head of major projects for the SBB passenger traffic fleet said:The IC 2000 fleet is central to our long-distance transport. We are convinced that this contract is in good hands and we look forward to contributing, through the award of future work, to the strengthening of Swiss industry.
