flirt-emu-180x180Stadler Rail have received an order to deliver eight FLIRT 3 trains to the Texan public transportation company Fort Worth Transportation Authority. This is the first sale o the FLIRT vehicles in the USA for Stadler Rail. On Tuesday 9th 2015, both companies signed the contract in Fort Worth, Texas USA.The contract is worth $100 million (US). The delivery date of the trains are scheduled for July 2017, with the subsequent approval period lasting until March 2018. The FLIRT trains will operate on the new TEX Rail line, thick will run between Fort Worth and the DFW International Airport.

Stadler Rail FLIRT 3 Trains

The contract is the firth contract for Stadler Rail with an American company. To date, the company as sold forty-nine GTW multiple-unit trains in the USA. In contrast to previous contracts, national federal funds will make up a portion of the financing on this current order, making this the first time that the “Buy America Act” is used in a Stadler project.
