Third female to join the board of Directors

Sharon Vye Parminter has been appointed to become the third female Director of the South West Trains Network Rail Alliance.

Sharon, who joins from First Great Western, brings with her 19 years of experience that includes delivering a safe railway for passengers in various routes in the country, including First Capital Connect, Intercity and Regional train operators and most recently at First Great Western.  Sharon was instrumental in reducing the amount of staff and passenger injuries throughout her career.

Will Further Improve Saftey

This new appointment forms part of the South West Trains Network Rail Alliance and aims to improve its safety record even further.

Announcing the appointment of Sharon as Safety and Assurance Director, Tim Shoveller, Managing Director for the South west Trains Network Rail Alliance said: I am delighted to welcome Sharon to our team. She becomes the third woman to reach a Director role within our organisation. Sharon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the post of Safety and Assurance Director. She has been instrumental in improving safety across several rail routes.

Commenting on her first week in her new role Sharon Vye Parminter said: Safety performance has been a major focus for me in my previous roles. I am thrilled to join the South West Trains Network Rail Alliance and welcome the challenge to make an already excellent safety record even better.

Sharon started her new role on 3rd June 2013.
