A set of Škoda Group trams have been officially authorised to begin operation in Frankfurt (Oder).
Currently, eight of Škoda’s 46T trams are already situated within the city, with an additional two vehicles set to be delivered in the coming days and the final three now entering the final stages of production.

The new vehicles replace Stadtverkehrsgesellschaft mbH Frankfurt (Oder)’s existing KT4 fleet, and form part of a joint contract signed by the cities of Frankfurt (Oder), Cottbus, and Brandenburg an der Havel.
Jan Christoph Harder, President Region West & North at Škoda Group, said:Frankfurt is the first to bring the new trams into passenger service, and it’s a key step in this ambitious project. This contract brought together three cities with different technical requirements but a shared vision for modern, accessible transport.
Meeting all those needs with one platform wasn’t easy, but it’s exactly the kind of challenge we’re here to solve. It’s great to see that effort now paying off for the people who use these trams every day.
Each Škoda 46T tram is capable of travelling at speeds of up to 80 km/h and can carry up to 151 passengers onboard with 56 seats available.
Škoda recently delivered six 47T trams for use in Cottbus, with a seventh on the way. Local operator Cottbusverkehr has also exercised an option for an additional 15 vehicles, with seven now in production.
The company has also provided two trams for the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, which now possesses two trams and has two more currently undergoing final assembly.
Each of the three cities is expected to gradually introduce the new trams into operation over the coming months.
