Siemens Mobility to Electrify Singapore’s Cross Island Line

Siemens Mobility has been selected by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) to lead a consortium with Concord Corporation Pte Ltd in delivering the power supply system for the Cross Island Line (CRL).

The Cross Island Line will be Singapore’s eighth and newest Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line. It will be fully automated and driverless, enabled by Siemens Mobility’s digital technologies.

This contract marks Siemens Mobility’s third project on the CRL, following previous orders for the Overhead Catenary Rigid Power Supply system and Trainguard MT Communications-based Train Control (CBTC) signalling systems, along with full-height platform screen doors.

Michael Peter, CEO of Siemens Mobility said:

“We are proud to be chosen by the Singapore Land Transport Authority as its partner for electrifying the Cross Island Line. Our power supply solution will combine the real and digital worlds to provide reliable, safe, and 100% available electrification on the line while optimising lifecycle costs.”

Siemens Mobility will design, supply, install, test, and commission the power supply system. The system will include three intake stations equipped with 66kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) and transformers, a 22kV Medium Voltage System (MVS) with GIS panels and service transformers, and a 1500V DC system with DC panels and converters.

It will also feature a Condition Monitoring System and an Intelligent Fault Isolation System (iFIS) to enhance performance management.

The power supply system wil be designed with modular features to facilitate future upgrades and seamless integration with the signalling systems. This will help ensure sustainable and cost-effective operations.

The consortium’s contract for this project is valued at approximately 270 million EUR.
