Amtrak’s I-5 corridor between Seattle, Vancouver, BC, Portland and a number of other stations is set to receive a set of eight new Cascade trainsets and two new locomotives in 2026.
The new trainsets, which are dressed in an evergreen, cream and mocha colour scheme in-keeping with typical Cascade livery, have been manufactured in California by Siemens and were funded as a part of the Federal Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act.

The new trains are set to be the first to leave Siemens’ factory, and will arrive over a period of several months before entering service following inspection, testing and approval.
Each unit comes equipped with panoramic windows, additional table seating, a redesigned café car, USB ports, free onboard Wi-Fi, enhanced lighting, digital customer information displays, automated steps, hands-free restroom controls and a capacity to carry more than 300 passengers.
Amtrak Cascades is also poised to become the first train route in the country to receive the new Airo trains in 2026, with the Pacific Northwest set to be the first to set the units into operation.
