Siemens Mobility has signed an order with Akiem for the provision of 10 Vectron Dual Mode (VDM) locomotives.
The order, which also includes an option for an additional 40 units, forms part of a framework agreement first signed in August 2021 for the supply of locomotives and associated services.

Steffen Bobsien, Vice President Locomotives & Coaches, Siemens Mobility GmbH, said:We are delighted that Akiem has again decided for Siemens Mobility and ordered 50 more Vectron locomotives to their fleet.
We are especially pleased that the Vectron, with its unique modular design, will be making a significant contribution to rail services on electrified and on non-electrified lines in the Akiem fleet. We have now sold more than 2,700 Vectrons, which is clear proof of customer satisfaction.
The first units are set to be delivered to Akiem beginning in the 4th quarter of 2026.
Since 2021, Akiem has ordered 100 locomotive units from Siemens Mobility in a number of different batches.
Fabien Rochefort, CEO Akiem, said:Vectron Dual Mode is today the most reliable and cost-effective solution for railway operators that intend to step away from pure diesel traction. This locomotive, fitted with ERTMS, can operate in an agile way on both electrified and non-electrified infrastructure without compromise on speed and haulage capacity. We are proud to add this offer in addition to our existing Electric Vectron portfolio.
By constantly investing in our locomotive portfolio, we are intending to contribute to the rejuvenation of rail freight and passenger transport and commit to a greener rail sector.
Initially set to operate in both Germany and Austria; Siemens Mobility’s VDM locomotives are capable of delivering up to 2.4 megawatts in electric mode and 2 megawatts in diesel mode, with a maximum speed of 160 km per hour.
To date, Siemens Mobility has sold 2,700 Vectron units to more than 100 customers,
