In 2023 SŽ’s freight operator, Tovorni promet newly rented out two Vectron locomotives from Railpool, a rolling stock leasing company from Germany. Vectron are multi-system locomotives manufactured by Siemens, which we often do maintenance and repairs on at our workshops.
Because the locomotives run service on Slovenian rail network, VIT is the go-to maintenance supplier to minimise downtime and ensure they are fit to run.
The first talks of providing maintenance to these units took place last year at the Transport Logistik fair in Munich, with the relevant workshop assessment following short after to make sure we meet the requirements for delivering maintenance to Railpool’s Vectron locomotives. On completing the assessment, the first locomotive entered our shops on 28 November 2023 for an I1 inspection.
Railpool locomotives come in for servicing regularly throughout this year, along with the locomotives from other international customers. The plan is to provide maintenance to all Vectron locomotives leased by Tovorni promet and also to any other units operating on Slovenian network. Maintenance is, naturally, delivered also to other types of locomotives entering our shops for an overhaul, no matter the network they run on.
