Specifically designed for cross-border intercity and long-distance services in Europe; the Vectouro platform will operate predominately on modernised lines in Central and Northern Europe, as well as select semi-high speed corridors at speeds of up to 230km per hour.

Knorr-Bremse has been supplying both braking and boarding systems for the trains since Q2 2026, with this latest contract building on previous awards to equip Siemens’ Vectron locomotives with compressed air supply systems for braking systems and brake controls.

Additionally, Knorr-Bremse has now begun to supply the Vectouro platform with bogie equipment, advanced actuators, and the anti-slip system, which aims to support safe traction on the rails and precise braking.

Harald Schneider, Chairman of the Management Board of Knorr-Bremse Rail Division, said:

The platform architecture places high demands on integration and operational reliability.

Our technology is designed to meet these demands and ensures that the Vectouro platform can fully realise its potential in European operations. A key factor in this success is the trusting collaboration between the teams at Knorr-Bremse and Siemens Mobility.
