Network Rail today announced Jo Kaye as new Network Strategy and Planning Director.

Kaye started at Railtrack as a graduate, and gained experience in operational roles. She was recently route managing director and a director in the strategy and planning department.

Kaye is originally from London but currently resides in Halifax. She read biology at Imperial Collage London and obtained an MSc in passenger transport management. She joined Network Rail in 1995 on a graduate training scheme. She worked in many operational management roles for the first five years of her tenure.

Kaye managed west coast in 2008 as liaison between rail operating companies and the project team which was to complete the west coast upgrade. Her success in this role enabled the successful completion of the upgrade in December 2008.

Following this, she was made route managing director of the LNW route, and most recently worked in strategic planning.

Kaye replaces Paul Plummer on the Network Rail Executive Committee. Plummer has joined the Rail Delivery Group.

Chief Executive of Network Rail, Mark Carne said:

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Jo as director of network strategy and capacity planning. She brings strategic planning and deep industry knowledge and has developed strong relationships with stakeholders including the department for transport and local authorities.”
