Israel Railways (ISR) have ordered a further 60 TWINDEXX Vario Double-Deck Coaches from Bombardier, featuring the new BOMBARDIER TRAXX AC electric locomotives. The order is an extension of a 2010 framework agreement worth €106million. The trainsets are expected to be delivered from March 2017 to July 2018.

Yossi Daskal, Chief Country Representative and Head of Sales Israel, Bombardier Transportation, said:

“We are proud to continue strengthening our local footprint. Bombardier’s story in Israel continues to be a success due to high performance and the excellent relationship Bombardier has built with ISR over the last decades. We are delighted to be part of ISR’s rail network electrification and modernization by providing high quality, sustainable solutions.”

The Israeli government has pledged a €7billion investment in its rail network. In addition to this order, light rail and monorail systems will be developed for several lines.
