The ETR 1000, a high-speed train manufactured by Hitachi Rail, was first introduced in 2015 and is now in operation in Italy, France and Spain.
A fleet of 20 of these units operate in Spain under the IRYO brand and the trains connect into a France via a Paris-Milan cross-border service.
The unit on display at InnoTrans 2024 has 3 classes: Executive Class, Business Class and Premium Class. In passenger operation it also features Standard Class.
The Executive Class car holds 10 passengers. The armchairs are capable of rotating by 180 degrees, allowing passengers always to face in the direction of travel.
Each Frecciarossa 1000 train has one Executive Class coach. Passengers can order catering from their seat and the leg rest comes up for extra comfort.
Coaches 2–3 are Business Class coaches, with the fifth coach featuring the Bistro.
Each chair in Business Class is 69cm wide – that’s down 5cm from the Executive Class seat at 74cm. From an accessibility perspective, wheelchair passengers are also able for the first time to take advantage of the bistro – there are no obstacles in the way. This class also features a Silence Area – a quiet coach for passengers who value a relaxing train ride.
Passengers travelling in Premium Class, like passengers in Business Class and Executive Class have the ability to order food and drink from their seat. Coach 4 is Premium Class, while the remaining coaches, 5–8 are Standard Class.
In its 8-coach configuration the train has a total length of 202m and can travel at speeds of up to 400km/h.
