Last week, Talgo showcased the Talgo 230 intercity train for Danish operator, DSB at InnoTrans 2024.
This display marked the first time in the history of the event that a full rail coach was displayed inside the halls.
Due to the configuration of the building, this required efforts equivalent to raising the vehicle up to a fourth floor. Talgo noted that the milestone was consequently only possible due to the significant lightness of its train.
Talgo has been contracted to deliver 16 Talgo 230 Intercity trains to DSB. These trains will operate on routes connecting Copenhagen and Aarhus in Denmark with Hamburg, Germany.
The trains have a maximum speed of 230 km/h, with an operating speed of 200 km/h. They have been built in Spain for Denmark and feature a wider design than standard cross-border models. This allows for more interior space and enhanced passenger comfort. Meanwhile, they maintain full technical interoperability for seamless operation on both domestic and international routes.
The DSB trains will also reduce energy consumption by up to 30% compared to industry standards, thanks to Talgo’s rolling technology and lightweight passenger coaches.
Additionally, the trains are designed to be 95% recyclable, further enhancing their sustainability.
