InnoTrans 2024: KONČAR Showcases Croatian Rolling Stock

Croatian manufacturer, KONČAR is showcasing two trains at InnoTrans 2024: a battery-powered train and a measurement train.

The company’s latest battery-powered multiple-unit (BMU) was developed as part of KONČAR’s commitment to sustainable mobility.

Meanwhile, its measurement train is set to play a crucial role in improving the operational efficiency of HŽ Infrastructure upon its return to Croatia.

Josip Ninić, President of the Management Board of KONČAR – Electric Vehicles said:

We take pride in our Battery-Powered Multiple Unit (BMU), a standout in the realm of cutting-edge rail technology and a testament to KONČAR Group's extensive experience in developing proprietary high-tech products, especially in the urban mobility sector.”

Battery-Powered Train

KONČAR’s battery-powered train has been designed for standard track gauge and can reach a maximum speed of 120 km/h.

The two-car vehicle is equipped with 102 seats and has a total capacity for 216 passengers. It features roof-mounted propulsion batteries using lithium NMC technology, with an energy capacity of 736 kWh.

The BMU trains are tailored for non-electrified networks and recharge through stable charging points, supported by infrastructure developed by KONČAR.

Measurement Train

KONČAR’s measurement train is designed to monitor and record the condition of railway tracks.

Based on KONČAR’s proven electric and diesel-electric train platforms, this high-floor vehicle is equipped with a diesel engine and can achieve speeds of up to 140 km/h on both electrified and non-electrified lines.
