Hyundai Rotem has presented its EMU-320 high-speed train platform at InnoTrans 2026.
The platform is used for South Korea’s KTX-Cheong-Ryong service, which is operated by Korail.
Capable of reaching speeds of up to 320 km/h; the train, which appears at InnoTrans wrapped in a deep blue wrapping, uses distributed electric multiple units across six of its eight cars in a bid to improve overall acceleration.
Initial contracts for the trains were first signed in 2023, and the final delivery of 136 cars is scheduled for some time in 2028
Hyundai Rotem has claimed that the train is capable of reaching maximum operating speed even with one power car out of service, and possesses ample seating capacity throughout (501 seats).
The train on display at InnoTrans is made up of eight cars, and represents the next generation of the EMU-320 platform.
Onboard functionality includes wireless charging, single seating configurations with adjustable angles and state-of-the-art passenger information displays throughout.
