Egypt is partnering with Siemens Mobility to realise one of the world’s most ambitious rail infrastructure programmes: the construction of a new high-speed network spanning approximately 2,000km. Once completed, this network will connect more than 60 cities across the country and provide around 90% of the population with access to modern, fast and sustainable mobility. The project represents a fundamental transformation of Egypt’s transportation landscape and sets new standards for efficiency, safety, and environmental performance in the region.

Güde product overview

The network consists of three major corridors that will link Egypt from north to south and from east to west. Siemens Mobility is supplying a comprehensive portfolio of technologies and systems for this undertaking, including Velaro high-speed trains, Desiro regional trains, Vectron freight locomotives, state-of-the-art signalling technology, full electrification and turnkey infrastructure solutions. This integrated approach ensures that all components – from rolling stock to control systems – are perfectly aligned to deliver maximum reliability and long-term operational stability.

We are proud that Güde safety-critical components, such as our sperrkant spring washers BN 208 012, are already being used in the first completed sections of the line. In a project of this scale, every fastening element must meet exceptionally high requirements for vibration resistance, long-term durability and operational safety. Our products are designed precisely for such demanding environments. They help ensure that mechanical connections remain secure under dynamic loads, extreme temperatures, and continuous high-speed operation – conditions that are typical in modern railway systems.

For Güde, participation in the Siemens Egypt project is more than a business milestone; it is a confirmation of our long-standing expertise in railway fastening technology. As a company with decades of experience in supplying safety-relevant components for international rail programmes, we are honored to contribute to a project that will shape mobility for millions of people.
