Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced that driver training is now underway on the new Wendlingen–Ulm high-speed line between Stuttgart and Munich in preparation for its commissioning.
Once timetable changes are implemented on 11 December, the new route will improve connections between Stuttgart and Munich by around 15 minutes.
In addition, a new train station in Merklingen will connect even more residents to the rail network.
“With the commissioning of the new line, we are igniting the turbo for the mobility turnaround in the south-west. It starts in four weeks and travellers will be amazed: faster connections, more trains between Stuttgart and Munich and the prospect of cars stuck in traffic on the Autobahn running parallel to the route. All the effort was worth it!”
DB has announced that all infrastructure for the new high-speed Wendlingen–Ulm line is complete.
Train drivers are consequently now completing test drives with ICE and regional trains. This allows them to become familiar with the topographical properties of the route, the distances between the signal sections and the track layout within the stations.
