Transdev have ordered 28 diesel Coradia Lint trains in a €115million contract with Alstom to run on the Augsburg diesel network in Germany. The contract comes following Transdev’s award from the free state of Bavaria to run the Augsburg–Landsberg, Augsburg–Füssen and Munich–Füssen networks. The Coradias will start running passenger services from the end of 2018.
Didier Pfleger, Alstom Vice President Germany & Austria said:
“We are pleased that our long-term customer Transdev has chosen us again. There already is a large number of our trains running in the Augsburg diesel network 2. The positive feedback shows us that the comfort in our trains is very well appreciated by the passengers.”
Christian Schreyer, Chairman of the Management Board of Transdev GmbH, said:
“For the expansion of our rail traffic around Augsburg starting in December 2018, we want to stick to the modern, passenger friendly and reliable trains from Alstom. They have proven themselves already with different Transdev businesses in the past.”
The trains, to be manufactured at Alstom’s facility in Salzgitter, Germany, have a capacity of between between 225 and 485 people, travelling at a maximum speed of 140km/h. They feature barrier-free access for rapid passenger flow, a multi-purpose area for wheelchairs, bikes and prams, and a universal toilet to meet disabled passengers’ needs. They also have a cutting-edge passenger information system and CCTV.
