Full passenger rail services have resumed between Newark and Nottingham this morning (Monday 9 September).

Services were part-suspended following the derailment of a freight train on Tuesday 27 August.

Very poor ground conditions under Stoke Lane level crossing required extensive work in order to safely re-open the railway in the area. Several utilities run underneath the crossing which added to the complexity of the repair work.

Network Rail thanks passengers, freight customers and our lineside neighbours for their patience.

A full investigation into the cause of the incident is underway.
