Flame Resistant Erosion Control & Slope Stabilisation Technology

PYRAMAT® 75 High-Performance Turf Reinforcement Mat (HPTRM) and PYRAMAT® 25 Turf Reinforcement Mat (TRM) are now engineered to mitigate fire risk and increase the resilience of wildfire prone areas using non-halogen fire retardant technology.

Recognizing the long-lasting impact of wildfires, including the destruction of essential vegetation that helps to maintain slope structure and storm water runoff, Propex designed an HPTRM and TRM that provide essential slope and erosion protection while mitigating fire risk.

Non-halogenated flame retardants work by interfering with the chemistry of the flame, producing less heat and suppressing smoke. Additionally, they don’t pose the associated health and environmental concerns as halogenated retardants. Testing confirms that this technology has a zero-burn rate and is self-extinguishing.

The ignition resistant option is available for all Propex Engineered Earth Armoring Systems including ARMORMAX®, SCOURLOK®, PYRAWALL® and PYRAMATTRESS®. In 2023, the fire-resistant technology will be standard on all PYRAMAT products and Engineered Earth Armoring Systems.

Applications:

  • Areas prone to wildfires
  • High-risk fire zones
  • Railbeds
  • Landfills
  • Defensible spaces
  • Burn scar remediation

Propex low carbon solutions have been protecting and stabilizing channels, slopes, levees, and stream banks for more than 20 years. They are cost-effective and nature-based solutions that have a significantly smaller carbon footprint than traditional solutions.
