From innovative coupling solutions for urban mobility to the future of Digital Automatic Couplers for freight, Dellner, a Wabtec company, demonstrates how engineering expertise helps operators improve performance, safety, and efficiency.

At InnoTrans 2026, Dellner will showcase solutions that combine more than 85 years of coupling expertise with Wabtec’s global technology portfolio, helping operators modernize fleets and prepare for the next generation of railway operations.
Innovation for the Next Generation of Light Rail Vehicles
A key highlight will be the Foldable Automatic Coupler, designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern urban transport by combining fully automated coupling with driver-controlled operation for fast, safe, and reliable train formation. Advanced sensor monitoring continuously verifies coupling status, while an integrated anti-twist device helps ensure reliable performance in demanding operating conditions.
The result is a solution that gives operators greater operational flexibility, higher system availability, and improved passenger service.
Extending Asset Life Through Modernization
Visitors can compare couplers before and after modernization to see how refurbishment restores performance and extends service life.
Dellner’s services help operators improve reliability, maintain high safety standards, and reduce lifecycle costs while avoiding unnecessary replacement of complete systems. By combining original engineering expertise with comprehensive service capabilities, we help customers maximize fleet availability and support more sustainable rail operations.
Accelerating Digital Automatic Coupling
Digital Automatic Coupler is a key development in the future of European freight rail.
At the ÖBB booth (CityCube | Hall B | Stand 630), visitors can discover the Dellner Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC) integrated with the Wabtec Coupler Consist Unit (CCU). Together, these technologies demonstrate Dellner and Wabtec’s contribution to the European DAC program.
The system automatically connects mechanical, pneumatic and electrical interfaces while enabling digital communication throughout the train. This reduces manual work, shortens train preparation time, improves operational safety and provides the digital foundation for more efficient freight transport.
Experience DAC in Action
Visitors can also experience Digital Automatic Coupling in real operating conditions.
During InnoTrans, at the Train Test Lab Spandau (Havelländische Eisenbahn), Dellner will participate in live demonstrations of the DAC Basic Package on freight wagons, allowing visitors to compare conventional screw couplers with Digital Automatic Coupling.
In addition to the live demonstrations, Dellner’s Hybrid DAC with Wabtec Locomotive Consist Unit (LCU) will be displayed in the exhibition area at the Train Test Lab Spandau. The solution supports a phased transition from manually operated screw couplers to fully automatic coupling, enabling mixed fleet operations during DAC implementation.
Stronger Together
The integration of Dellner into Wabtec brings together world-leading coupling expertise and one of the rail industry’s broadest portfolios of technologies and digital solutions. Together, we are helping train builders and operators build safer, more efficient and more sustainable railways.
Meet our experts at the Wabtec booth (Hall 1.2 | Stand 210), explore our DAC solution at the ÖBB booth (CityCube | Hall B | Stand 630), and experience live DAC demonstrations at the Train Test Lab Spandau.
