Île-de-France Mobilités has awarded CAF a contract worth more than 150 million EUR for 15 tram-trains for the T13 line in the Paris region.
The contract also includes options for spare parts and additional trains. The new vehicles will support the planned extension of the T13 line to Achères in the Yvelines department.
The T13 is part of the Île-de-France regional transport network and has been operated by RATP Cap Île-de-France since opening in 2022. The line currently connects Saint-Germain-en-Laye with Saint-Cyr-l’École, serving stations including Mareil-Marly, L’Étang-la-Ville, Noisy-le-Roi, Bailly and Versailles.
The extension to Achères is intended to improve connections between the T13 and other regional transport services. The project will also support increased service frequencies, with trains planned to run every 10 minutes during peak periods, as well as connections with RER A, RER E and Transilien Line L.
The new tram-trains will be based on CAF’s URBOS platform. Each seven-module vehicle will be 42 metres long and 2.65 metres wide, with capacity for 86 seated and 170 standing passengers.
Around 75% of each vehicle will have a low-floor configuration to improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility. The vehicles will also feature air conditioning and dynamic passenger information displays above the doors and on station platforms.
The tram-trains will be designed according to Île-de-France Mobilités’ visual identity and design standards. They are scheduled to be manufactured at CAF’s facility in Bagnères-de-Bigorre in the Hautes-Pyrénées region of France.
The contract follows CAF’s agreement earlier this year to supply 10 Régiolis regional trains to SNCF Voyageurs for the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region.
