CAF has been awarded two new train maintenance contracts in Brazil and New Zealand, with a combined value exceeding 100 million EUR.

These agreements will see the company providing long-term servicing for fleets it originally supplied.

São Paulo Metro Contract

In Brazil, CAF has signed a 14-year comprehensive maintenance contract with Motiva Group, the operator of Line 5 of the São Paulo Metro. The agreement covers the ongoing upkeep of 26 six-car trains that CAF delivered under a 2011 supply contract. Maintenance activities will be carried out at the Capão Redondo and Guido Caloi depots.

Line 5, also known as the Lilac Line, spans 20 kilometres and plays a significant role in São Paulo’s public transport network. It connects several key districts in the city, including Santo Amaro, Moema, and Vila Mariana, and supports daily ridership of over 600,000 passengers.

CAF has operated in Brazil since 1998 and has delivered various projects for local authorities, including São Paulo Metro, Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM), Trensurb in Porto Alegre, and CBTU in Belo Horizonte. The total value of CAF’s projects in the country to date exceeds 2 billion EUR.

Auckland Rail Network Support

In New Zealand, CAF has signed a five-year service agreement with Auckland One Rail Limited (AOR), the entity responsible for operating and maintaining Auckland’s electric rail system on behalf of Auckland Transport. AOR is jointly owned by ComfortDelGro and UGL Rail Services.

The contract covers engineering support, staff training, and the supply of spare parts for the fleet of 95 electric multiple units (EMUs) that CAF has delivered since 2011. Maintenance will take place at the Wiri depot in Auckland, where the fleet is currently serviced.

Auckland’s rail network includes four lines, extends over 94 kilometres, and consists of 42 stations. It serves as a major part of the city’s public transport infrastructure.
