Alstom’s investment in Motala is aimed at meeting the increasing demand for maintenance solutions from both Nordic and European markets.

Mikael Granberg, Head of Rolling Stock Maintenance Nordics said:

We are seeing a strong demand for Traxx locomotives and maintenance services, both in the Nordic region and across Europe. By bringing together our expertise in Motala, we can offer an efficient and flexible solution.

Alongside the expansion, Alstom has secured an eight-year full-service contract with Alpha Trains, a European leasing company for locomotives and trains. The contract covers ten Traxx Universal locomotives, with maintenance conducted at the Motala facility.

The agreement includes preventive and corrective maintenance, on-site field support via a mobile team, and a technical assistance hotline for drivers.

Vincent Pouyet, Managing Director Locomotives, Alpha Trains said:

By expanding our service network with a trusted partner like Alstom, we ensure that our customers benefit from maximum reliability and reduced downtime. This strategic collaboration between Alpha Trains and Alstom underlines our commitment to sustainable and efficient transport solutions across Europe.

As part of this initiative, Alstom is investing in the Motala facility’s capabilities. Enhancements include the installation of a wheel press for wheelset maintenance and upgrades to the bogie line. The site will also provide maintenance for advanced signalling systems, supporting both domestic and international customers.

The Motala facility collaborates with Alstom’s other European sites, ensuring an integrated approach to locomotive maintenance.
