Attendees included a number of Amtrak representatives, as well as company President Roger Harris, who thanked customers for their use of the trains.

Amtrak President Roger Harris said:

Our guests are at the heart of this milestone – one million trips on NextGen Acela is a powerful signal of the demand for world-class passenger rail in America.

It’s our joy to celebrate with our customers this Memorial Day Weekend, as you travel and experience the best of high-speed, premium rail.

Amtrak has confirmed that it will begin to add more NextGen Acela departures as a result of surging demand.

The Alstom-built trains first entered service in August 2025, and are formed of a set of 11 cars – 2 power cars, 9 passenger cars.

Earlier this month, Amtrak unveiled its brand-new Freedom250 NextGen Acela train, which aims to highlight the nation’s founding ideals whilst looking to the future of transportation.
