As part of the Railway 200 celebration, Alstom has announced plans to open its Derby Litchurch Lane rolling stock factory to the public for the first time in 2025.
The event, titled “The Greatest Gathering,” will take place from 1 to 3 August as part of the Railway 200 celebrations, marking two centuries of Britain’s railway history.

Derby itself has a rich heritage in train manufacturing, with continuous production dating back to 1839.
The event will showcase a broad array of railway exhibits, celebrating the past, present, and future of Britain’s railways.
Highlights include:
The Derby Litchurch Lane Works is the UK’s sole facility that designs, engineers, builds, and tests trains for domestic and export markets. The site is internationally recognised for its contribution to rail innovation and is central to Alstom’s operations.
The event is open to the public, but booking or tickets are required. Further information on ticketing and event schedules will be shared closer to the date.
