BT Cables invited 70 customers and partners to the event at BT Tower which marked 500 days since its launch event last year.

This was an excellent opportunity to demonstrate we did what we said we would at the launch event and much more, and to share our plans for the next 500 days. Managing director of BT Cables and BT Supply Chain Nick Hale said: Since our acquisition, manufacturing output has increased 13 per cent and we have scope for further growth as our production lines are only running at 58 per cent of capacity.  We can also offer a cut to length service on a wide range of products from basic two pair copper up to 4800 pair copper and also fibre optic cable.

Were currently handling 250 customer orders a day but have the ability to increase customer order handling to 400 a day; a 60 per cent increase in productivity.

BT Cables Manchester Manufacturing Facility

The 28-acre manufacturing facility in Manchester has been manufacturing cable for 120 years and has the experience needed to support internal BT Group customers and a growing portfolio of external customers from several market sectors including telecoms, transport and industrial.

Commercial director Kevin Samuel explained that the site in Blackley also benefits from having a large cable drum storage facility and is supported by a distribution network of 40 cable sites across the UK and 50 warehouses in 22 countries around the world.

BT Cables also has laboratories for testing materials and transmission capabilities and an onsite recycling facility he said.

Weve experienced the fastest growth of any UK cable manufacturer and our growth is set to continue, said Kevin. Weve now established a presence in Europe and the Middle East and our portfolio and operations are set to increase.

The plan for the next 500 days is to continue to work with our customers and partners ensuring continued growth and mutual success. With its focus on quality, service and price allied with years of cable making experience BT Cables is without doubt a cable partner that can be relied on.
