Zonegreen is putting the dangers faced in French maintenance depots under the spotlight, as it prepares to debut its rail safety solutions at the nation’s premier industry event.

The firm is joining sister company, Serv Treyvou Interverrouillage (STI), both of whom are part of the Sentric Safety Group, today at SIFER, France’s international exhibition of railway technology, which runs from June 24-26 in Lille.

A bustling trade show booth, likely for "zonegreen" and "STI," showcases rail safety solutions with a large graphic of train tracks, monitors displaying data, and a yellow industrial-looking box in the foreground, as two women and two men interact.

It is the first time Zonegreen has exhibited its innovative technology at SIFER. Its Depot Personnel Protection System (DPPS) and Electronic Interlocking Solution (EIS), will be demonstrated and discussed on STI’s stand, as well as trapped key interlocking solutions.

The team will also be analysing the daily risks depot staff face and how Zonegreen rail safety solutions can improve safety and reliability in maintenance facilities.

DPPS is installed in some of the world’s most advanced rail depots to automate safety procedures, removing the margin for human error. It allows the efficient movement of vehicles and is one of the most thoroughly tested, independently certified and proven in use systems. Similarly, interlocking solutions prevent unauthorised train movements or other actions being initiated, if stipulated safety procedures have not been followed.

Christian Fletcher, Zonegreen’s head of engineering, said:

We are really looking forward to meeting visitors and fellow exhibitors on our first visit to SIFER. It is France’s only international event dedicated to rail and will be a chance to catch up with other leading experts in the supply chain. It is a pleasure to be attending the event with our colleagues at STI and we have an interesting and informative stand planned. Rail is the only mode of transport for which safety targets are prescribed by EU legislation and whilst there has been a significant decrease in passenger fatality rates, employee fatalities show an increasing trend. We know our technology can have a positive impact on the rail depot environment and by spreading the word at such a prominent industry event, we hope it can ultimately save lives.

The Zonegreen and STI teams are based on stand 1-300 at SIFER, which is being held at Lille Grand Palais in Lille, France. It is the 14th edition of the biannual show, which attracted 7,000 visitors in 2023 and 378 exhibitors from 20 countries.
