US Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy has announced that trespassing incidents and train-vehicle collisions on Brightline Florida have reduced by 30% year-over-year in Q1 2026.
Duffy has claimed that the statistics are due to the Trump Administration’s expedited deployment of a 25 million USD investment, which has been used to modernise infrastructure at railroad crossings across the state.
Improvements made include upgrades of 327 highway-rail grade crossings along 195 miles of the Brightline/Florida East Coast Railway corridor from Miami to Cocoa; the installation of 33 miles of fencing, rail dynamic envelopes (RDE), roadway striping, delineators, crisis support indicators; and the deployment of ‘Do Not Stop on Tracks’ signage.

We’re going to continue to partner with Brightline Florida and FDOT to cut trespassing incidents with new crossing technology and safety enhancements and expand this success nationwide.
As of June 2026, improvement works along the Brightline Florida rail corridor have seen upgrades made to 173 of the 327 crossings (53%) and the installation of 116+ crisis support signs. The FRA has stated that it is working closely with all stakeholders on the project.
