Network Rail has begun track, bridge and station works designed to improve services for travellers between London and Anglia.

Track renewal London Anglia
Track renewal works begin in Bishops Stortford.

Over the next six months weekend work will take place at Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire to renew eleven points and over half a mile of track.

Engineers will also undertake drainage and platform works and re-timber and re-rail two bridges.

Once complete, passengers will benefit from more punctual and reliable rail services between London and Cambridge, Stansted and Kings Lynn.

Ellie Burrows, Network Rail’s route director for Anglia, said:

We're committed to improving reliability and driving down delays and cancellations for our passengers across the Anglia region.

This work on the West Anglia Main Line is essential to keep the track in good condition and keep services running on time.

Rail replacement buses will be made available while works take place.

Network Rail expects this project to be completed by July 2022.
