TX Logistik AG has increased its rail freight operations in Sweden, doubling the number of trains in service for Coop.

Having worked with Coop since 2012, TX Logistik had been operating ten trains per week for the retail chain. Starting on 6 April that number has now gone up to 20. TX Logistik runs services for Coop between Bro, near Stockholm, and Malmo. Bro is the location of Coop’s central warehouse. En route, TX Logistik also stops at Alvesta and Växjo.

20 trains performing this journey is the equivalent of 520 lorries doing the same. Coop estimates that this results in an annual saving of 9,600 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year.

TK Logistik AG is wholly owned by Mercitalia Logistics S.p.A., a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.
