Hitachi Rail has been chosen to deliver its SelTrac Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) and SCADA solutions for Gamuda, the main contractor for the New Taipei City Government’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems (NTCG DORTS).

The solutions will be implemented on the Xizhi–Donghu (Xidong) – Nangang- Badu (Keelung) MRT project that will connect both New Taipei and Keelung City.

The Xidong–Keelung MRT line covers 22 kilometres, 16 stations, 23 trains, and 1 depot

A new addition to the Taipei-Keelung metropolitan system, the Xidong-Keelung MRT project aims to address demands for better public transport connectivity between the two cities by providing a line that covers 22 kilometres, features sixteen stations, fourteen trains and one depot.

Hitachi Rail’s involvement will see the company deploy its wireless SelTrac CBTC technology, which will be equipped with a slew of additional systems including advanced communications systems, private cloud-based signalling and train control supervision in order to improve overall system efficiency and reliability, as well as provide advanced telemetry and data analytics.

The project also includes the implementation of a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system powered by ALVEA, which offers modularity, scalability, maintainability and cloud readiness via a edge-to-cloud data flow.

Cyrille BATAILLE, Chairman and CEO, Hitachi Rail Taipei, said:

We are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to delivering high-quality solutions to the New Taipei City Government DORTS, in partnership with Gamuda.
