Alstom has signed a new 10-year contract for the maintenance of Swedish operator VR’s Norrtåg fleet.

The contract, which is valued at over 60 million EUR, will see Alstom carry out both preventative and corrective maintenance, de-icing, overhauls, repairs and wheel turning for the fleet’s 12 Coradia Nordic units.

With the new agreement, Alstom plans to increase its overall presence in the north of Sweden

Each train is also set to be modified for the inclusion of Alstom’s digital maintenance solution, HealthHub, which provides customers with real-time information any necessary condition-based or predictive maintenance.

Maria Signal Martebo, Managing Director of Alstom in Sweden, said:

Northern Sweden will see significant development in the coming years as part of the green industrialisation, and here, efficient maintenance of the trains plays a crucial role for both private travel and freight traffic.

Maintenance work will begin December 2025 and will be performed in both Umeå and Luleå.

Alstom will also be responsible for the training of additional staff in Luleå in order to meet customer maintenance requirements.
