Rail Vision System for Shunting Yard Applications
Rail Vision ShuntingYard products have been installed on SBB Cargo’s shunting locomotives for extended prototype testing and will be deployed in North America during 2024. The system automatically detects and classifies objects on the tracks within a range of 200 meters, allowing significant increases in productivity and service speed.
Sensors mounted on the shunting locomotive allow the driver to monitor dead zones and facilitate secure wagon coupling. Integrated with the operator’s remote-control devices, the system is an important safety net; it detects obstacles, recognizes the position of switches, and alerts the operator before dangerous situations happen.
