Stadler Valencia is set to supply European Loc Pool (ELP) with a set of 20 additional EuroDual Locomotives, with all units set to possess a homologation for Germany, Austria, Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia.

This latest order will bring ELP’s total fleet to 144 locomotives, the entirety of which is made up of modern six-axle locomotives in order to meet demand requirements of European Rail Freight.

Stadler's EURODUAL Locomotive
With new approvals in Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, Stadler is significantly expanding the operational reach of its EURODUAL locomotive

Stadler’s EuroDual, which combines electric traction with a diesel engine, has played a central role in the development of ELP’s locomotive portfolio since the operator’s inception. The six-axle locomotive allows operators to run on both electrified and non-electrified routes, and possess up to 6.2 MW of electric power, 2.8 MW of diesel power and 500 kN of tractive effort.

The units have been designed for demanding heavy freight operations, and aim to offer flexibility for mainline, first- and last-mile operations.

Willem Goosen, CEO of European Loc Pool, said:

Ordering another 20 EuroDual locomotives is a major milestone for ELP. Reaching a total fleet of 144 locomotives demonstrates how strongly our company has developed and, above all, the trust our customers place in our concept. The EuroDual has been part of ELP’s success story from the very beginning and continues to offer exactly the combination of power and flexibility that modern Rail Freight requires.

We are extremely proud of this next step and look forward to continuing our growth together with Stadler.

The new contract is positioned to represent the continuation of long-standing cooperation between both European Loc Pool and Stadler Valencia, who together have introduced modern six-axle locomotives into operation across a number of European rail freight markets.
