Stadler Sign Arriva Maintenance Contract

Stadler signed the Arriva maintenance contract as the first FLIRT train arrived into the Stadler workshop in Blerick as part of the Limburg public transport concession. With approximately 150 guests were present to mark the occasion, Stadler and Arriva Netherlands signed a 15 year maintenance, servicing and cleaning contract. The train will begin operating passenger services in December 2016, in Limburg province in the Netherlands.

The Arriva maintenance contract was signed by Hein van der Schoot from Stadler Nederland and Anne Hettinga, from Arriva Nederland. The works will be carried out by Stadler at their Blerick workshop.

Stadler FLIRT

The new train is the first of a fleet of 36 FLIRT type trainsets. 15 units will consist of two railcars with four doors, 13 units will consist of three railcars with three doors (from December 2017) and a further eight units will consist of three railcars with three doors (from December 2020).

At the event, guests were treated to a tour of Stadler’s workshop and the new trains. The trains all feature more legroom and wide doors, as well as a closed toilet system, leather upholstery on First Class seats and wall sockets

Chair of the Arriva Netherlands board, Anne Hettinga said:

“I’m extremely proud. I’d like to pay a huge compliment to those responsible for ensuring that these brand new trains will be running on the tracks in Limburg from 11 December onwards. We’re really looking forward to that! This roll-in shows the contracting authority and customers alike that we are on schedule with the implementation. Likewise, they can see for themselves at first hand that the trains meet all the statutory requirements and additional features offered.”

Hein Van der Schoot:
